Companies that are undergoing a technology-enabled business strategy such as digital transformation urgently need modern infrastructure solutions. The solutions should be capable of supporting extreme performance and scalability, uncompromised data-serving capabilities and pervasive security and encryption. According to IDC, IBM’s LinuxONE combines the advantages of both commercial (IBM Z) and opensource (Linux)systems with security capabilities unmatched by any other offering and scalability for systems-of-record workloads. The report also adds LinuxONE will be a good fit for enterprises as well as managed and cloud service provider firms. Read more about the benefits of LinuxONE in this IDC Whitepaper.

"SD-WAN largely exists today to support two key enterprise transformations: multicloud and the software-defined branch (SD-Branch). Multicloud has changed the center of gravity for enterprise applications, and with that, has changed traffic patterns too. No longer does traffic need to flow to enterprise data center sites or central internet peering points and breakouts. That’s because most traffic from users and devices in the enterprise campus and branch today goes to cloud-based applications scattered across a host of clouds. It’s neither economical nor efficient to haul traffic over WAN-dedicated links to a central enterprise site. So to optimize the cost and performance of multicloud-bound traffic, modern WAN edge routers, often called customer premises equipment (CPE), are now equipped with hybrid WAN links and routing. Hybrid WAN interfaces may include WAN provider-dedicated links such as MPLS, as well as direct internet links over xDSL, broadband and 4G/LTE wireless."

Distributed cloud architectures will play an important role in Communication Service Providers’ network transformations. The distributed cloud will be made of numerous edge locations, from the customer premises to mobile base stations to central offices, each of which has its benefits and constraints. CSPs will need to consider attributes such as performance, availability, security, integration, and data and traffic volume to optimize the infrastructure for a myriad of workloads. Learn more about Heavy Reading’s survey results on CSPs adopting a distributed cloud strategy and delivering new services in this white paper.

Enterprise applications are moving to the cloud, and for good reasons: The cloud offers a host of potential benefits for both small & mid-sized businesses and large enterprises. These benefits include lower costs, scalable and flexible deployment options, lower capital spending, and access to innovative applications. Communications Service Providers (CSPs), meanwhile, see more opportunities to offer more bandwith to businesses within their footprint.

In a global and highly regulated marketplace, pharmaceutical and biotech firms face a challenge in managing regulatory labeling submissions that meet multiple country and regional requirements in many different languages. This process has historically required substantial manual intervention and review by highly paid professionals, contributing to unnecessary costs and delays in medicinal product launches. Biopharma executives hope that new, cloud-based tools will help solve this costly dilemma. To market their products globally, biopharmaceutical firms must ensure their product information complies with local regulatory filing requirements. Submissions often need to be revised to reflect in-country linguistic, formatting, and timing mandates. In-country compliance is usually overseen by local affiliates that manage the process internally. Tasks such as translation and formatting are typically outsourced to in-country providers. For the corporate global regulatory affairs (GRA) functio

Regardless of whether your data resides on-premises, in the cloud, or a combination of both, you are vulnerable to security threats, data breaches, data loss, and more. Security is often cited as a concern for organizations who are migrating to the public cloud, but the belief that the public cloud is not secure is a myth. In fact, the leading public cloud service providers have built rigorous security capabilities to ensure that your applications, assets, and services are protected. Security in the public cloud is now becoming a driver for many organizations, but in a rapidly evolving multicloud environment, you must keep up with changes that might impact your security posture. This eBook outlines the three core recommendations for cloud security across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.

Public clouds have fundamentally changed the way organizations build, operate, and manage applications. Security for applications in the cloud is composed of hundreds of configuration parameters and is vastly different from security in traditional data centers. According to Gartner, “Through 2020, at least 95% of cloud breaches will be due to customer misconfiguration, mismanaged credentials or insider theft, not cloud provider vulnerabilities”1. The uniqueness of cloud requires that security teams rethink classic security concepts and adopt approaches that address serverless, dynamic, and distributed cloud infrastructure. This includes rethinking security practices across asset management, compliance, change management, issue investigation, and incident response, as well as training and education. We interviewed several security experts and asked them how public cloud transformation has changed their cloud security and compliance responsibilities. In this e-book, we will share the top

Compiling a cloud services comparison is a daunting task in the rapidlyevolving cloud environment. There are thousands of cloud services, dozens of cloud service providers, and numerous Infrastructure-as-aService (IaaS) providers offering pay-as-you-go pricing models—each one frequently changing and upgrading their portfolios. We have chosen to limit our cloud services comparison to the top three IaaS providers providing service in the Western Hemisphere—Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)—because, not only are these the IaaS providers most organizations are familiar with, they are also the IaaS providers whose services most organizations are likely to compare. This eBook provides an introduction to the range of services offered by the leading cloud service providers, information on regions and availability zones, a breakdown of cloud storage services, and more, to help inform you on your multicloud journey.

"Flash has permeated enterprise storage in small, medium-sized, and large enterprises as well as among webscale customers like cloud and service providers. It is available in a variety of different system architectures, including internal storage, hyperconverged and converged platforms, and shared storage arrays. Revenue driven by shared storage arrays, of both the hybrid flash array (HFA) and the all-flash array (AFA) type, is much larger than from other segments today and will continue to dominate enterprise storage spend through at least 2020."

When any organization starts planning for cloud-native applications, it is important to consider the entire time span: from selecting a development platform until an application is truly production-grade and ready for delivery in the cloud. It can be a long journey, with many decisions along the way that can help or hinder progress. For example, at the beginning of a move to cloud-native development, it is easy for inefficiencies to occur if developers begin selecting tools and frameworks before they know where the application will be deployed. While enterprise developers want choice of runtimes, frameworks, and languages, organizations need standards that address the entire application life cycle in order to reduce operational costs, decrease risks, and meet compliance requirements. Organizations also want to avoid lock-in, whether it is to a single provider of cloud infrastructure or the latest architectural style. In addition, given the steep learning curve in cloud development, con
