Information is the engine of business growth in the digital age. Market intelligence, customer information, intellectual property and other data can be harnessed to create a quantifiable competitive advantage for a company and lay the path for future expansion. Yet as critical as data can be, the sweeping year-over-year proliferation in data volumes can quickly overwhelm an IT organization. This is much more than a budget problem: Without an effective data storage strategy, an organization is putting a critical resource at risk.

Today’s corporate networks are more important to business objectives than ever before. Consequently, greater amounts of sensitive data traverse both wired and wireless networks. This plethora of valuable data in today's enterprise attracts an increasing number of hackers and malware applications. However, the inherent connected intelligence and distributed nature that makes the network a treasure trove for cybercriminals can also empower the network to be a proactive security tool. Through traffic visibility, and segmentation, today's enterprise network can prove itself to be a sensor and enforcer for security

It feels as if these folks have been around forever. They started life as a SIEM with a heavy emphasis on log management. Today they are all that plus a solid suite of next-generation attributes. They have many of the attributes of next-gen SIEMs: artificial intelligence, sophisticated log correlation, sophisticated pattern recognition and behavioral analysis. Their strength is, as it always has been, log management. But “log management” has taken on an entirely new dimension with this product. As is absolutely necessary today, it has the intelligence to analyze, correlate and make sense of huge amounts of data.

There has been much speculation (not to mention exaggeration) over recent years about the fabled dark web. We’ve heard how this shady underworld is the refuge of the cybercriminal elite, and even nation-state threat actors. That this is their “Wolf’s Lair,” where they gather to plot the breaching of businesses, the downfall of governments, and the hacking of celebrities. As with much mainstream reporting of technology, and cyber threats in particular, there’s a grain of truth here. This less accessible and more volatile corner of the internet as we know it does offer those with less honourable motive a secret marketplace for their wares. The confusing terminology around what the dark web is or isn’t shouldn’t be a barrier to defenders realizing the anonymous communities, and how it can be used to produce valuable threat intelligence.

Enterprises increasingly operate in a digitally interconnected world where third parties like suppliers, customers, channel partners, and others are often directly connected to their internal IT systems, and where their underlying IT infrastructure may be owned and managed by an outside organization. These business relationships can knowingly or unknowingly introduce different types of risks that need to be identified and managed as if these third parties were part of the enterprise itself. Recorded Future's latest risk intelligence offering enables threat intelligence teams to better understand, monitor, and measure their real-time exposure to these third-party risks. Armed with this information, organizations can better assess and prioritize risk mitigation actions.

Contact centers often pool agents into large groups of generalists to distribute work evenly. Skills-based routing takes this a step further with specialized groups. But neither approach scales properly to identify all opportunities and drive business outcomes on each interaction. Predictive routing uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to create balance—meeting targets and giving customers a personalized experience. Read Demystifying AI: Creating an AI partnership that maximizes business results to learn how predictive routing systematically: Evaluates historical and real-time data to make predictions; Makes the best customer-agent match to drive desired outcomes; Keeps agents engaged and reduces handle times.

Businesses can gain greater value from their BI investment by improving the way in which data flows to the BI system are managed. Many problems result when the ETL process is handled by a patchwork of scripting, custom coding, and various built-in schedulers that are part of existing ETL solutions, because these systems do not provide end-to-end execution, monitoring, and control of the ETL process.

To mine raw data and extract crucial insights, business decision‐makers need fast and comprehensive access to all the information stored across their enterprise, regardless of its format or location. Furthermore, that data must be organized, analyzed and visualized in ways that permit easy interpretation of market opportunities growth, shifts and trends and the business‐process changes required to address them. Gaining a true perspective on an organization’s customer base, market area or potential expansion can be a challenging task, because companies use so many relational databases, data warehouse technologies, mapping systems and ad hoc data repositories to gather and house information for a wide variety of specialized purposes.

Companies spend millions of dollars every year on building data warehouses, buying business intelligence (BI) software tools and managing their analytic processes in the hope of gaining consumer insight and winning market share. Yet, many companies fail to realize the full benefits of their technology investments because they are hamstrung by the layers of expertise and the complexity of technology tools needed to integrate various data warehouses and associated tools within their existing analytic environments. Since analysis is only as good as the accessibility, timeliness and accuracy of the information being analyzed, the interoperability of any data warehouse with any analytic environment is essential to achieving insightful, actionable analysis and making better decisions.

Today, organizations are collecting data at every level of their business and in volumes that in the past were unimaginable. Data sets are stored in different database systems or in files with distinctive formats, all reflecting business process, application, program software, or information type dependencies. Adding to this complexity is the distribution of these data sets across the enterprise in silos requiring a varied set of tools and/or specialized business rules for data transformation, classification, matching, and integration. Because of the massive amounts of data stored in a variety of representation formats, decision makers strain to derive insights and create business solutions that adequately span and integrate information from these disparate technology islands.
